4th of July Party Ideas

4th of july party

What fun the 4th of July is! Fireworks and homemade ice cream. Can you get any better than that?

Independence Day is a wonderful celebration of freedom. A time to remember the ones who gave their lives for our freedom. So let's celebrate with these great ideas!

You can go with a Vintage Theme, or a Modern Theme. Look for great items at flea markets and thrift stores for the Vintage Theme.

Invitations

Purchase flag cards and embellish them with ribbon and sequins. Sprinkle star and flag confetti inside. Seal with a flag sticker.

You could also make flag or star cards.

If you're doing the Vintage Theme, find an old flag post card. Copy it onto tan cardstock paper, cut it out with scrapbook scissors, and glue onto another piece of cardstock that is folded in half.

Dab antique medium here and there to make it look worn.

Party Costumes

You could supply Uncle Sam hats. Ask guests to wear red, white, and, blue. If you're doing the Vintage Theme, ask everyone to dress in old fashion clothes. Give prizes to the best. The guys might not want to go all out, so maybe they could just wear a vintage hat. So fun!

Entrance Decor

Tie red, white, and blue balloons on the mailbox to alert your guests as to where the party is.

Make signs out of thick poster board that say, "Happy 4th of July".

Your party will most likely be in the back yard, so have signs that direct your guests as to where to go.

Make them look antique if doing the Vintage Theme.

Make a balloon arch with red, white, and blue balloons. Tie balloons onto a string or ribbon. They will float up to create an arch.

You could also have a garden arbor with red rose garlands all over it. Intertwine blue ribbon. Place bows here and there.

This would be a fabulous setting to take pictures of your guests.

Purchase a large Uncle Sam. Have him standing by the arch.

Decorations

Your colors(of course)are going to be red, white, and blue. For the Modern look and feel, you'll want to hang streamers and place balloons everywhere.

Use 3 to 5 balloons in a group. A great balloon weight is a balloon and some sand.Just fill the balloon with 1/4 cup of sand and tie.

Use white tablecloths. For your centerpiece, you can purchase terracotta pots and paint them blue. Plant red and white flowers in them. Place pin wheels or small flags in them as well. You can also use silk flowers.

Sprinkle confetti in and around.

Candles are a great way to add sparkle.

Use anything from around the house that is red, white, or blue. Go crazy.

You could go more elegant and do white lace tablecloths, with red roses in silver vases. Tie a blue ribbon in a bow and place in flowers. Sprinkle red rose petals on the table. Place blue taper candles in silver or crystal candle holders.

For the Vintage feel, use more antique colors. Cream, maroon, and navy. For your centerpieces use antique things like ice cream machines and galanized pails to hold flowers.

Plates and cups can have flags, stars, fireworks, or just be a plain color. Banner - Stars & Stripes

Favors

Give each family a picture of them in a flag frame. Remember the photo arch? Find time to print the pictures off and place in frames. Place in a red bag with red, white, and blue ribbon tied on the handle.

For the Vintage theme, use brown bags with a faded photo of a flag glued on the front. Use cream, maroon, and navy ribbon. How funny to see them all dressed in old fashion clothes.
