Question...
My husband and I are hosting my in-laws 50th wedding anniversary celebration. We are going with the traditional gold theme. Any ideas??
Answer...
Hi MaryBeth,
Of course I have ideas. And I will be happy to share them with you. Just because you want to go with the traditional gold theme, doesn't mean you can't add in a little fun. What does the couple enjoy doing? Add a little of that into the decor and you're guaranteed a successful event.
Gold and cream is a great color scheme. Use it everywhere. Start your decor at the entrance of the 50th Wedding Anniversary party. Construct a gold balloon arch or rent an arch from a wedding supplier and embellish it with cream roses and gold ribbon. Don't be afraid to use greenery as well. It will break up all the gold and cream.
Centerpieces can be balloon bouquets or do cream flowers. For the balloon bouquets, start with a 50th Anniversary mylar balloon and add a gold and a cream latex balloon. Always work in 3's or 5's. Tie the balloons onto gold ribbon and attach to a balloon weight. You can set the balloon weight down in a pretty gift bag and fill the top with pretty coordinating tissue.
For a flower bouquet, just use whatever flowers that the couple likes. Place gold rocks in a glass vase, add your flowers. Add pretty gold wrapped chocolate candy as confetti on the tables around the vase.
Candles are a great way to bring in light and set the mood. Rent or borrow tall pillars and place candles or flower arrangements on top of them. Add gold votive candles to the tables.
Purchase gold frames and add pictures of the couple through out their marriage. Place on the tables as well.
You can use pretty cream china with gold trim or go with paper products for ease. It just depends on how formal your party is going to be. Here are some really great 50th Anniversary Party Supplies.
Twinkle lights are fun for any kind of event. They add sparkle and mystery to the most boring setting.
And don't forget to add the special one of a kind touch. What does the couple like to do? For example, if he likes to golf, then spray paint golf clubs gold and use them in the decor. Does she like to bowl? Again, spray paint bowling balls and use them in the decor. Make it personal and fun. Do they like to garden? Do a garden theme party and spray paint garden tools gold and use in the flowers and on the tables. Don't be locked in to a boring and predictable party. Stretch your imagination and come up with some ideas that will have the guests saying ....WOW! You can still do the traditional theme but add in an additional fun theme or elements.
If you need anymore ideas, just drop me a line on the contact us page. I'll help you anyway I can. I am the queen of coming up with original ideas. And I do love to share them with my friends.
Good luck,
