8th Grade Graduation Ideas~

Question...

We're trying to decorate our school gym for 8th grade graduation. We were planning to use ferns but nobody has any. Nothing fancy. Budget is tight.

thanks

Answer...

Hi Yvonne,

Filling up a gym is not an easy task and when the budget is tight you really have to use your head to come up with creative ideas.

When I have to decorate for an event and don't have a lot of money in the budget, I like to use balloons. They give such a statement for so little money. You can rent a helium tank and buy good quality balloons at any department store.

Or purchase the balloons already filled. You'll need to buy them the day of the event though, as they don't last very long.

Make balloon bouquets for the tables. Use an odd number of balloons. Tie to ribbons and add a balloon weight. Place directly on the table or place the weight down into a gift bag that matches your color scheme. Add tissue or gift basket shred to the top of the bag.

Make balloon arches as well. Just tie helium balloons onto a ribbon or string and attach to something on each side. The balloons will float into an arch.

Another way you can bring in some fun is with paint. Use large pieces of fabric, or wood and paint scenes. You can create anything with this method. If you don't have an artist to paint your scenes, just use an overhead projector. Project any image onto your fabric or wood and and trace. Then just fill in with paint.

Ask around your town for donations. Or think about renting stuff. Your local nursery might even be willing to loan you some ferns or flowers just for a bit of advertising. It doesn't hurt to ask.

I hope these 8th Grade Graduation Ideas help. Good luck.
