Ballerina Birthday Party Costumes
Ask the girls to come in their ballet attire. Or supply tutus for everyone. Tutus are really simple to make. Measure your daughter's waist. Cut a piece of tulle twice as long. Sew a casing along one long side. Run elastic thru. Sew casing shut.
Hand sew ribbons hanging down from waist at different lengths. You can double the tulle and put flower petals in them for an extra bit of fun.
If you are adding in the Princess theme, you can give the girls a tiara as well.

This is every little girl's dream party. Go all out with the glamour for this one.
Tulle is so cheap and it really makes a statement. Use twinkle lights in the tulle to add a background glow. Swag the tulle from the middle of the party area to the corners.
Tie large tulle bows onto the chairs. Add tulle to doorways to resemble stage curtains. Use tacks and secure the tulle to the top of the doorway in two pieces. Leaving an opening in the middle. Swag each side back with pretty pink or purple ribbon.
Use real ballet slippers as decor if you have them. You can also cut out pink slippers from poster board. Add pink ribbon and tie to the chandelier or hang from the ceiling.
Use clear vases with pink tulle on them to look like tutus. You can add flowers, princess wands, or flowers to the vases.
Another idea for a Ballerina party centerpiece is to purchase a wire dress form. I've seen them at Hobby Lobby. You'll want one anywhere from 1 foot to 3 feet. Embellish the dress form with ribbon and tulle to look like a ballerina.
Here's a fun Ballerina centerpiece idea. It's really not that hard to make either. You'll need to search on Martha Stewart's website for tissue paper pom-poms. The directions say to use 8 pieces of paper, but you don't need that many for this project. Just use about 5.
Draw out a bodice and legs from scrapbook paper. I embellished the bodice with some jewels. The shoes are just colored on. I hot glued the bodice to the wire that was holding the tissue together and hot glued the legs on as well.
I hung my cute little centerpiece, but you could secure it to something so that it would sit on the table. You can also just bend the legs and set the ballerina right on the table.
Or just hang these fun ballerinas from the ceiling with fishing wire. These are so cute you can use them anywhere.
The traditional
Prima Ballerina Centerpiece
is great as well. And balloons are a very inexpensive choice for a centerpiece. Start with a
Prima Ballerina Mylar Balloon
and then add latex balloons. Tie onto a balloon weight and place on table. You can place the balloon weight down in a gift bag and add tissue or gift basket shred to the top.

Ballerina Birthday Party Games
"Ballet Slipper Pinata"
A pinata is a true party staple. It functions as part of the decor and then it becomes a really fun game. Fill with small toys or candy.
Face Painting
Do you have a budding artist in your neighborhood or family. Hire them to do face painting for the girls.
Pin The Tutu On The Ballerina
Draw or print a picture of a ballerina on a poster board. Cut pieces of tulle to look like tutus. Use double stick tape on the back of the tutus and have the girls play this just like you would play "Pin the Tail on the Donkey."
Dancing
What's a ballerina party without dancing? Put on some ballet music and let the girls dance. Or you could hire a real ballerina and have her teach a simple lesson on ballet.
Ballerina Birthday Party Cake Ideas
Make or purchase a round two layer cake. Lay round pieces of tulle on a cake plate to look like a tutu. Add the cake to the cake plate. Place plastic ballet slippers on the top of the cake for a simple and easy cake topper.
Or check out these fun ballerina cupcake picks that I made. I saw something kind of like it a while back, but wanted to simplify it. All you do is draw a bodice on scrapbook paper, cut it out. Now you need some wired ribbon. Gather it on one side. Glue to the bodice. Hot glue a sucker stick onto the bodice under the back of the skirt. So easy, and yet it's so cute! Do these in any colors.
