Bowling Party Ideas
Does your child absolutely love to bowl? We've got some fantastic bowling party ideas for you to use. Bowling parties are all the rage.
They are so easy to do. Clean up is a snap, and the kids are occupied with bowling, so you're not having to entertain all the time. You can be taking pictures to put in your scrapbook. Purchase scrapbooking supplies from the Scrapbook.com Superstore!
We all know about bowling parties at the bowling alley, but did you know you can have a bowling party at home as well?
Just make all the decorations about bowling. I'll give you bowling party ideas for both.
If your guests are younger, you'll need to ask the bowling alley if they can put up bumper pads in the gutters. It helps to make everyone a winner.
Bowling Party Ideas For Invitations
Take a black piece of cardstock and cut out a circle. Draw three circles to look like the finger holes with a silver pen. Write all your info on the back.
Cut out a white bowling pin and take a red marker to make the stripes at the top.
Take a picture of the Bowling Alley. Or a picture of the guest of honor in a bowling shirt. You can find vintage ones at Thrift Stores. Glue onto cardstock that you've folded in half to look like a card. Write inside...
(The guest of honor) is going to have a "ball".
Come prepared to have a "striking" good time on (date of party).
First ball will roll at (time of party).
The wrap-up will be at (time the party ends).
We'll "spare" no expense. So come to ready to PARTY at (name of bowling alley or your address).
Make sure you let them know to bring socks and to know their shoe sizes.
Bowling Party Ideas For Costumes
You can do two different things. The first idea is to purchase vintage bowling shirts for everyone. Everyone has to go by the name on the front. It can
be quite hilarious.
The second idea is to make up bowling shirts from cheap T-shirts. Use fabric paint pens to write the names of the guests on the front of the shirt.
You can have different teams and call them funny names. "Silly Strikers", "Kingpins", "Balls of Fire", ect. Write the names on the back of the shirts.
Bowling Party Ideas For Decorations
At Home Bowling Party Decor
Tie balloons on the mailbox to alert visitors to where the party is located. Cut out bowling pins from thick poster
boards. Make the red stripes at the top with a red marker. Hot glue a garden stake or paint stick to the back. Stick in the ground. You can line the sidewalk
or just have them random. You could also set them up in two rows. Then make a ball out of black thick poster board and place it in front of the pins.
The decorations should all be about bowling. For your centerpiece, purchase a plastic bowling set and place it in the center of the table. If it's for a girl, you can cut the top off of the pins
and fill with water and a few rocks to hold it down. Place a single flower in each one. Daisies would be darling. You can group them in the middle of the table
or line them up down the table.
Use your bowling party supplies as part of you decorations. Set everything out on the table. Place your cake or cupcakes on the table as well. It adds
to the whole party scheme.
Balloons are great for this party theme. Purchase mylar bowling balloons or make your own bowling balloons with latex balloons. Just draw the finger holes
with a marker. So cute.
At the Bowling Alley Party Decor
At the bowling alley you can set up a table behind the lanes. Decorate the table just like you would if you were at home.
The table is about all you can do. You're pretty limited at the bowling alley as far as decorations go, but that's okay because the kids just want
to bowl.
Bowling Party Ideas For Games
At Home Games
Center all your games around bowling. Set up 2 lanes in your basement or backyard. Just make sure it's pretty flat.
To spice it up you can have teams and they can compete. Or look at the funny ideas below to add to the traditional bowling experience.
Some non-traditional bowling games would be fun as well.
Bowling Race
Divide everyone into two teams. Line them up in a line. Give the first kid a plastic bowling pin to put under his chin. He must pass it to the next person's chin. You cannot
use your hands. If it's dropped, the pin goes back to the front. The team that can get it to the last person and back again, wins.
Bowling Ball Waddle
Line the teams up again. The first person has to put a plastic pin between her knees. She must then waddle to a bucket and dump in it. She must runback and touch the next player.
The next player goes and so forth. The first team to finish wins.
At the Bowling Alley
Okay this is pretty straight forward. We're here to bowl. But you can spice it up a bit by having some silly ways to bowl.
- Bowling backwards
- One legged
- Granny shots
- Opposite hand
- Blindfolded
- Silly walk
Give bowling trophies as prizes. Make sure everyone gets one for something.
Bowling Party Ideas For Cakes
A really cute idea for bowling ball cupcakes is to make chocolate cupcakes and frost on the finger holes with white icing. I'm into anything that is quick and easy.
Another really cute bowling ball cake idea is to make the cake below and frost black. Make the icing smooth and pipe on the finger holes with white icing. You'll want them to be off centered.

Sports Ball Cake Pan
You could also frost a sheet cake light brown to look like an alley. Place a gumball at one end and candles at the other end to look like bowling pins.
Bowling Party Ideas For Food and Drinks
Bowling food is all about junk food. But you can make healthy versions if your party is at home. For at home parties serve...
- Healthy hotdogs
- Homemade nachos
- Healthy pizza
- Pretzels
- Organic popcorn
- Chips
- Virgil's rootbeer(relatively healthy soda)
If the party is at the bowling alley, you could bring some healthy dishes to supplement the bowling alley fare (which is not very healthy).
- Fruit kabobs
- Veggie tray
- Nuts(be aware of allergies)
- Healthy chips and dip
Check out my Healthy Party Food page for more ideas.
