Candy Parties ~ Brandon's Fabulous Purple Candy Party
Do you love Candy Parties? This Party is an absolute must see. It's FABULOUS! You can use any color of candy to come up with your own unique party.
A Candy Party for a 19 year old boy? Yep. Who doesn't like candy? And let me tell you, it was a huge hit with everyone! My son knows that I can't do a party without some kind of fun theme, so when I
asked him what he wanted for his 19th birthday, he said he was into the color purple. Okay, doing a color theme is great, but I really wanted to amp it up a bit.
I wanted this to be a party that he would remember. I was flying all the way from Arkansas to Alaska for this party and I knew I had to deliver.
Candy parties are so much fun and I'm always up for a challenge, so I decided on a Purple Candy Party! Little did I know that purple candy is not that easy to find.
I searched high and low. I took a whole suitcase of candy and party supplies with me on the plane. Armed with my fabulous party plans, I was ready. Keep reading to see how I came up with everything you see below.
This picture just makes you want to dive right in to all that yummy candy. I am a little of a heath nut, so when everyone found out about the Purple Candy Party, they were shocked that I would even go there. I figured that since it was for adults and teens they would have the sense not to
eat until they were sick and it was all for fun. Well, it was fun alright, but I was little wrong about them having sense to stop! I think everyone was pretty sick of candy for awhile.
I made "suckers" from circular pieces of Styrofoam and foam plates. I spray painted the discs lavender and then wrapped them in purple cellophane. The plates were stapled together front to front and then wrapped in cellophane.
Dowel rods are the sucker sticks. I made centerpieces out of three different sizes of suckers. Then I added in some real suckers on the bottom. I used a block of florist foam and wrapped it in cellophane for the base of the centerpiece.

These are simply purple party plates with black precut letters. I punched holes in the top with a hole punch and threaded purple polka dotted ribbon through the holes. This makes a very effective, but cheap birthday banner.

Purple lanterns found on sale and purple balloons filled up the area quite nice. I placed a white Christmas tree in the corner and added purple salt water taffy to the branches. I also added two skinny trees with lollipops tied onto the branches on the table to fill it in. Candy that I had made out of plates and cellophane were stuck on all the walls.
I bought a purple hippo pinata at Sam's Club. You're probably wondering why a purple hippo? Well, it was huge and so silly looking and this party was all about being fun and silly. We didn't fill it with candy. We already had plenty of that. We filled it with fun things that teens would love. Bandannas, t-shirts, bouncy balls, squishy balls, ect. We also didn't just hang the pinata up and let them hit at it.
We let my son take the pinata and start out, the others ran after him and tackled him. They tore the pinata to shreds with their bare hands. They really loved it.
I bought the purple fabric for the swag on the walls and the table at Wal-Mart for $1.50 a yard.

Most of the jars I found at a thrift store. This large jar is filled with white sugar and purple rock candy suckers are sticking out of the sugar. This was a huge hit. Also in this picture are purple Laffy Taffy and suckers.

In one vase is Nerds gumballs, in the candy container is purple gum, there are also Pixie sticks, Warhead sour spray, Will Wonka candy tins, purple Soda Pop suckers, and dark chocolate Kisses scattered on the table.

I found this cute little M&M dispenser at the same thrift shop that I found the vases. I hit the jackpot! I spray painted it purple and added purple M&Ms. Personalized MY M&M'S® - Makes a great birthday party favor!

Another candy dispenser that I painted. It's filled with Jelly Bellys.

I didn't even know they made purple chocolate covered sunflower seeds. Yum! In the bowl are more purple suckers.

Grape gummybears and Mike and Ikes.

The red of the strawberries was a welcome relief for all the purple. I added the fun purple icing to keep with the theme though. These did not last long.

We had an ice cream cake, but I wanted a cake to sit on the table, so I made this simple but cute one. The letters are Styrofoam. I put toothpicks on the bottom of them and added them to the cake. I placed rock candy and M&Ms on top. Gummybears around the sides and more rock candy around the bottom of the cake. It was fun and easy.

For the main food we had a 6 foot sub from Subway, purple bags of Doritos, grape soda, and a purple Cool Whip salad made with purple Jello.
To keep everyone entertained we had a trampoline, Twister, purple squirt guns, frizbees, lawn games, and a tie dyed shirt activity. There was never a dull moment. It's nice to have a few teens that are not shy. They can keep the party going.
We had everyone dress in purple. A couple of the girls made M&M costumes too. It was simply the best party ever....until my daughter's party...hmmmm...what shall I do?
In the end I received a kiss from my silly son, so I guess the Purple Candy Party was a success:)
Happy Birthday Brandon!
