Cheap Party Favor Or Gift

cheap party favor

What a great idea for a cheap party favor. I know that most people don't have thousands to spend on party favors and gifts, so I came up with this cheap homemade favor idea.

We gave these frugal party gifts as a Father's Day gift at our church. I wanted something that made a statement, but didn't cost us a fortune.

I decided to go with the red, white, and blue theme. So you could easily use this for a Fourth of July party favor. Or change the colors and the candy to match any theme.

For this party favor I used vintage looking Cracker Jacks, star taffy, Tootsie Rolls, bubble gum, and a bag of peanuts. I got the cups at a department store. They were 4 for a $1.00. I bought red, white, and blue to match the whole vintage flag look.

Supplies Needed

  • Plastic cup
  • Brown shred
  • Assorted candy
  • Clear cellophane
  • Red ribbon
  • Cream card stock
  • Vintage flag scrapbook paper
  • Stamp and ink
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Decorative scissors
  • Hole punch

Instructions for Cheap Party Favor

  1. Decide on your color scheme.
  2. Purchase coordinating cups and candies.
  3. Fill the bottom of the cup with candy (I placed a plastic bag in the bottom to take some room, and then added the candy).
  4. Set the Cracker Jack box to the left and fill in with brown shred.
  5. Place the bag of peanuts to the right.
  6. Add your red, white, and blue star taffy (I used 3 in the front and one in the back to hold the box in place).
  7. Cut a piece of cellophane big enough to wrap around the cup.
  8. Cut out a tag from your cream card stock with decorative scissors.
  9. Glue on a piece of vintage flag paper (cut with decorative scissors).
  10. Stamp on Happy Father's Day or whatever occasion you are celebrating.
  11. Embellish the tag in any way you wish (I added another stamp to give it more flair) and punch a hole in the corner.
  12. Cut a piece of ribbon and thread your tag onto it.
  13. Wrap the cup and tie it with the ribbon.
