shabby chic christmas decor

Do you need some simple and easy Christmas decor ideas? I have got so many ideas for you to enjoy.

Christmas is a fun time of the year to go all out in your decor. You really cannot go over the top at Christmas time.

Collections come out of hiding. Doorways are dripping with elegant sprays. Mantles are spilling over with greenery and bows.

The cookies baking in the oven and the sounds of laughter floating through the air.

Oh it just gives me chills. I do love to decorate! And the holidays give me a chance to decorate my Shabby Chic home to my hearts content.

Christmas Decor Ideas For Outside

Twig and Ornaments

Suspend a large twig from the ceiling of your porch with fishing wire and hooks. Hang large plastic ornaments with ribbon or fishing wire in varying lengths. You can also spray paint the twig silver or gold.

Small Live Trees

Purchase small live trees and plant in pretty urns. Intertwine clear twinkle lights through out the branches. Line the side walk, set on either side of the front door, or lined up on the front porch. If you are going to plant them, be sure and dig the holes before the ground freezes up.

Snow Sculptures

If you live in a cold enough climate and you're artistic, you can build snow sculptures on your front lawn. Some ideas would be, a polar bear, large snowman, penguins, giant ornaments, Christmas trees, over sized presents, ect.

Ice Candles

This is a great idea for inside or out. Use half gallon milk or juice jugs for your mold. Place a smaller carton inside the mold and put rocks in it to hold it down. Pour water in the mold. Let freeze over night. Pour warm water in the middle container to loosen it up. Take it out of the middle. Peel away the carton from the ice. Insert a glass candle. Line the sidewalk for a party or for Christmas Eve. These are absolutely stunning. You can also do large ones and use for plant holders and vases. Just gorgeous.

Birdbath Bling

Layer greenery in your birdbath. Place shiny ornaments and tiny fake birds in and around the greenery.

Large Presents

Put rocks in large boxes to weight them down. Wrap in Christmas wrapping paper and secure a large bow on top. Place on the porch in groups of 3's.

Christmas Decor Ideas For Doors

Door Wreaths

You can purchase or make a wreath for your front door. For unique wreath ideas use vintage ornaments, Styrofoam balls, feathers, silk flowers, buttons, brooches, metal objects, real flowers, fresh greenery, silk greenery, ect. A really cute idea is to glue ribbon on a wreath form and cover with colorful candy and bright ribbon.

Door Basket

Hang a half basket from a wide ribbon on your wreath holder. Fill with ornaments, greenery, silk flowers, stuffed animals, or small wrapped gifts. Secure a big bow on the front with wire.

Christmas Face

Cut out a snowman, Santa, a cherub, a reindeer, or any other Christmas face out of wood. Paint and hot glue a wire on the back to hang from the wreath holder.

Loose Swag

Gather pine, holly, and spruce. Tie together with a gold or red bow and hang up side down on the door. Add pinecones with wire if you desire.

Christmas Decor Ideas For Inside

Candy Cone Trees

Purchase Styrofoam cones. Glue peppermints to the whole thing starting at the bottom. Place on a pedestal candle holder. You can use red and white peppermints, or use green and white.

Deck The Plants

Layer ornaments in your plants for a festive touch. Hang tiny ornaments from the leaves.

Collectables

Group all of your collectables together for more impact. Place them on the mantle, on a entertainment center, on a table, on a piano, bookshelf, or a wall shelf.

Bring The Outdoors In

Spray paint twigs red, silver, or gold and add to your other household plants. You can hang ornaments off of the branches.

Fill Your Lamps

If you have clear glass lamps, take them apart and fill with ornaments or lights.

Replace Pictures With Holiday Scenes

Put Christmas and winter scenes in all of your picture frames. Trade out your regular family photos with photo Christmas cards you have received in the past. It's always fun to be able to see the kids and grandkids as they've looked through the years.

Spell It Out

Purchase wooden letters at a craft store. Paint them in colors to match your Christmas decor and hang on the walls. Spell out words like peace, joy, love, holidays, angels, Jesus, Santa, Rudolph, or anything else that says Christmas to your family.

Snowflakes

Cut out a bunch of old fashioned snowflakes. Hang all over the house for a frosty Christmas.

Painting Mirrors

Use acrylic paints to add embellishments to the mirrors in your house. You can paint snowmen, presents, candy canes, ect. Or write Holiday words like joy, peace, ect.

Garland Galore

Drape store bought garland, pearls, or feather boas on the mantle, the doorways, the piano, the stair rails, over pictures, over mirrors, and buffet tables.

Jars Full of Candy

Fill clear glass jars that have lids with colorful Christmas candy.

Gingerbread House

Make or purchase gingerbread houses and place around the house. You can also make them from foam board and they will last much longer. Just decorate with frosting and candies in the usual way.

Chandeliers

Decorate your chandeliers with greenery, pearl garlands, flower garlands, ornaments, ribbon, crystals, or beads. It will make a stunning statement and won't clutter up your table.

Christmas Trees

Don't think you can only have one Christmas tree in the house. Have little ones in every room. Match the tree colors with the decor of the room.

Embellish Your Stockings

Embellish your plain stockings with buttons, rick-rack, ribbon, brooches, feather boas, beads, and jewelry.

Small Touches

Hang small wreaths or ornaments with ribbon from the backs of your dining room chairs.
