Construction Birthday Party Ideas

construction boy with toolbox

The Construction Birthday Party is such fun. Who doesn't like to get dirty every once in a while.

You'll find all the ideas and Construction Party Supplies you'll need for this dig in the dirt party right here.

So start up the dump truck and let's get rolling.

Construction Birthday Party Invitations

Cut pictures of construction equipment out of a coloring book. You can also download pictures from the Internet.

Color the pictures. Glue onto card stock that you have folded in half.

Write on the front...

Caution...Construction Party Ahead!

Write inside...

Foreman(your child's name) is calling all workers to report to duty on (date of party)
Come in your "work" clothes and get ready to get dirty.
Your shift begins at (time of party).

Add any other other party info you need to like where, if parents are invited, ect.

Construction Birthday Party Costumes

As stated in your invite, make sure the guests wear work clothes. T-shirts, torn jeans, work boots, ect.

Provide everyone with a tool belt (you can get them at any home improvement store) and a hard hat.

Supply plastic tools as well. You can leave the tools for a Tool Treasure Game or give them out now.

Construction Birthday Party Decorations

Construction Pals Centerpiece

Your colors for this party are orange, yellow, red, and blue. You can throw in green too if you want.

Tie balloons on the mailbox to alert your guests as to where the party is.

If you own a piece of construction equipment, have it sitting in the front yard with balloons all over it.

This is a great photo opportunity.

Make construction signs or purchase them from a party source.

Hot glue a garden stake on the back and place in yard.

Line the sidewalk with orange construction safety cones. Tie helium balloons on each one.

As the guests arrive, have them place the gifts in a wheelbarrow.

Use yellow caution tape instead of streamers. Drape all around the room.

You can use black tablecloths and add tape down the middle to look like a road.

For your construction party centerpiece, use your child's toys. Display them in a pleasing manner. And then add a balloon bouquet. Always use an odd number when making a bouquet.

Hang construction signs on the walls.

One of my favorite things to do is to use the cake as the centerpiece. See below for ideas on the cakes.

Construction Birthday Party Games and Activities

Construction Truck Pinata

A pinata always adds such fun. You can fill with candy or small toys.

Pin the Hat on the Foreman

Play as you would Pin the Tail on the Donkey. Use a large poster board and draw or trace the head of a worker. Cut "hats" out of yellow foam. Place tape on the back.

Obstacle Course

Make a construction obstacle course with ladders, old tires, play equipment, boards, cones, ect. Have races through them.

Construct a House

Find some big appliance boxes and have the kids construct and paint the "houses". Supply them with tape, paint, and paint brushes. This will fill up a huge portion of your party. Now you know why they need to wear "work" clothes.

Create a Play Area

Have sand and equipment available and let the kids just play.

Construction Birthday Party Cake

One of the easiest ways to make a great Construction Party cake is to prepare a cake and add a Construction Vehicle Candle Set.

Another really great idea is to purchase a large toy dump truck (it can be one of the gifts). Bake brownies or a chocolate cake. Break into chunks. Pile in the dump truck. Pour chocolate pudding and crushed black cookies over that.

Serve with a plastic shovel.

Construction Birthday Party Food and Drink

Serve all the food in construction equipment or you can also serve the food in brown lunch bags.

Pick and choose the ideas that work for your party.

  • Sub sandwich bar
  • Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches
  • Baked beans
  • Potato salad
  • Macaroni salad
  • Veggie tray
  • Hot dogs
  • Iced tea
  • Lemonade
  • Fruit punch

Construction Birthday Party Favors

You can use brown lunch bags. Glue a picture of a dump truck on the front or write each guest's name with puffy paint pens.

Some ideas for filling the goodie bags are...

  • Small tape measure
  • Construction stickers
  • Construction fruit snacks
  • Small flashlight
  • Small construction coloring book and crayons
  • Toy construction vehicle
  • Safety sign stickers
  • Work gloves
  • Thank you note
