This is such a huge question. A gym is a large place and it takes a lot of decor to fill it up. I really need more info to give you more details, but some of the basic suggestions I can give you are...

Decide on a theme.

Decide on a color scheme for that theme (or just go with a color scheme and no theme).

Check out your local wedding and party rentals places for prices on linens and rental decor. They will be able to help you decide what decor to go with for your reception. Even if you don't rent everything they suggest, you can get a lot of ideas just talking with them.

Decide on a centerpiece for the tables.

Are you going to have dancing? Then you'll need to make a place for that.

The cake needs a home and decor around it. You'll need to bring it into the scheme of things. Don't leave it just sitting in the middle of the room.

Balloons are a great way to fill large places. Balloon bouquets and arches are easy to create and give a huge impact. They're pretty cheap too.
