Healthy Party Drinks

pink lemonade

Need some ideas for healthy party drinks? Are you tired of the sugar laden junk that's out there? With these simple party drink recipes, you'll be able to quickly and easily quench any thirst. I'm all about keeping it healthy and easy.

I like to sweeten my beverages with Stevia. It's a plant. It's very sweet. I don't have time to go into the woes of artificial sweetners. They are bad news. Dr. Mercola wrote a book on it. Mercola. com is a great source if you're into health at all.

The brand I like is KAL, Pure Stevia Extract. You can find it at health food stores. You can also get the packets at grocery stores. The measurements for stevia vary greatly, so you might have to adjust here and there.

Use sugar if you have to. Just keep it at a bare minimum. Parties should not cause a lot of stress. Do what's easy for you.

Fresh Squeezed Lemonade

6 oz. fresh lemon juice(from real lemons)
1/4 tsp. stevia

Put in 2 qt. pitcher, fill with pure water. Chill before serving.

Pink Lemonade

Make lemonade. Put in blender with a few strawberries. Run until smooth.

Easy Punch

1 qt. fresh apple juice
1 qt. cranberry juice
1/2 cup lemon juice(from real lemons)
and 1/4 tsp stevia

Mix and chill.

Eggnog

2 eggs separated
2 c. milk
1/2 c. maple syrup
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. vanilla
3/4 c. whipping cream

Mix egg yolks, milk, maple syrup, spices, and vanilla together. Beat cream and egg whites separately and add to milk mixture. Chill and serve. Warning! Only use clean farm fresh eggs for this recipe.

Iced Tea

Brew your favorite tea, add 1/2 tsp. stevia to a gallon of tea. Use herb teas for something different. Peach tea, raspberry tea, blueberry tea are good choices as well.

Smoothies

Smoothies are so easy and taste great. You can use any fruit. Here's the basic recipe.
1/4 c. yogurt
1/2 c milk
2 tbsp raw unheated honey
1/4 of a banana
pinch of stevia
1 c. frozen strawberries

Blend throughly.

Sparkling Juices

Mix fruit juice and sparkling mineral water. You can add stevia if you want. This is great with all kinds of fruit juices.

Virgil's Rootbeer

If you want to serve soda, this is a great choice. It has natural sugar in it, but it's relatively healthy when you consider the choices out there. Check for it at your health food store. It comes in bottles or a keg. Great for parties. It also comes in other flavors besides rootbeer. Really yummy!

Hot Holiday Punch

2/3 cup rapadura (whole sugar cane)
2 short cinnamon sticks
3/4 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. salt
1 (48 oz.) can unsweetened pineapple juice
1 qt. cranberry juice
2 1/4 cup water
Place in coffee basket (don't use electric coffee maker) the brown sugar, cinnamon sticks, cloves, and salt. Place in coffeepot the pineapple juice, cranberry juice and water. Use a 20 cup or more coffee pot. Perk like you would coffee. Makes 20 cups.
