Easy Envelope Instructions

envelope instructions Have you made a fabulous card and now you need some simple and easy envelope instructions?

This is the easiest way I have found to make an envelope for any size homemade card.

You can do a plain white envelope, or use patterned paper.

For this envelope I used flowered paper. I put the flowers on the inside for a special treat when you open it.

You need to check with your Post Office about the sizes that they allow if you're going to send it in the mail.

It's hard for them to read dark envelopes. I would keep it light.

If you're giving the card in person, you can do any size you wish.

How to Make an Envelope

envelope instructions

I started with a 12x12 piece of paper. You can also use a 8x11.

envelope instructions

Cut around card. About 1 1/2 inches on sides and bottom and about 2-3 inches on top.

envelope instructions

Fold up the sides. Leave some room for the card to be able to slide in easily.

envelope instructions

Fold the top and bottom as well.

envelope instructions

Flatten the paper back out.

envelope instructions

Cut out the corners. You'll want to angle them a little bit.

envelope instructions

Place the envelope on another piece of paper. Trace around it. Cut it out. Make it a little smaller than the envelope.

envelope instructions

Glue the bottom piece to the sides.

envelope instructions

Glue the back on with white glue stick.

envelope instructions

Put your card in envelope.

envelope instructions

Embellish the front of card with stickers.

envelope instructions

Cut along the bottom of flap with wavy scissors. Seal with a coordinating sticker.

You can also just use solid colored paper and line it with pattered paper before you glue the back piece on.
