Fiesta Party Ideas
The Fiesta Party can be for a birthday, anniversary, retirement, baby shower, bridal shower, or just for fun. It's a casual party with lots of life and color. And who doesn't like tacos? You can also use this for a kid or teen. You will just have to change a few things.
If you need more ideas for kids, check out my
Kid Birthday
page. There's some great ideas on the
Teen Party
page as well.
Invitations
You can buy really cute little maracas that can be mailed. You put your info inside and a mailing label on the outside. Cute.
You can also find cards with a sombrero, chili peppers, cactus, or maracas on the front . Hand write or print your info inside.
Decorations
Your main colors for a fiesta party are going to be white, green, and red. It's the colors of the Mexican flag. But please don't be afraid to use alot of color! This party calls for it.
Group red, green, and white balloons together. Place around the party area. Make a balloon weight with a balloon and some sand. Fill a balloon with about 1/4 cup sand and tie.
You could use mexican blankets for tablecloths, or use plain red, or green. For the tabletops, use sombreros, maracas, and chili peppers. Place candles in various colors here and there.
You can purchase a blow up cactus or two, or use real ones. Sit them around the party area or on the tables.
Hang large christmas lights everywhere. You can probably find them at thrift stores or garage sales for cheap.
If the party is inside, then you can place mexican blankets over the sofa, chairs, on the walls, ect...
For the plates and cups, there are some really cute chili pepper designs. You can also just do a solid color.
Set up an area to take pictures of your guests with a sombrero and a blanket over one shoulder.
Activities
Limbo
Turn on the music and see who can bend the best. Have two people hold a broom. Everyone goes under by bending backwards. Each time you lower the stick a bit. If they touch the stick, they are out. The last person is the winner.
Mexican Hat Dance
Teach everyone the dance. Give out prizes for the best dancer.
Pinata
No Mexican fiesta would be complete without a pinata. There are some really cool ones out there.
Hot Sombrero
Place everyone in a circle. Start the music. They must place a sombrero on their head and then pass it to the next person. When the music stops, the person with the hat is out, but receives a prize. The last person left is the winner.
