Embellishing Gift Bags

You can purchase gift bags anywhere for cheap. Aren't they great the way they are? I hear you asking"Why the need to embellish them?"

I have the need to embellish everything!

I would hot glue trim to my husband's pants if I thought I'd get away with it.

Ok, maybe that's a little crazy. My husband just shakes his head as I head to my next project with my trusty glue gun.

So my point is, you can always make something better and more personal. If your gift is a rose tea pot, then make a rose bag.

If it's for a baby, then do a blue or pink bag. Coordinate your bag colors with your gift.

I'll give you 3 different ideas. You can take it from there and let your imagination soar.

• Silk flowers
• Greenery
• Feathers
• Ribbon
• Lace

Rose Gift Bags

Purchase a white or pink bag, some pink silk flowers, pearl garlands, and ribbon.

Pull the flowers and the leaves off their stems. Hot glue 5 big leaves on the front of the bag. You want to leave a space in the middle. That is where your flowers will go. Glue 3 roses in the middle.

You want them to overlap the leaves somewhat, but don't completely cover them up.

Glue more leaves here and there to make it look full. Cut some pearl garland. Fold in half, glue behind roses. Hot glue butterflies as if they're resting on a rose petal.

Hot glue beaded trim all along the top edge. Hot glue a coordinating trim over that.

You can do this on a bag that already has roses on it. It will look 3-d. Keep the colors and the placement the same.

Tie a ribbon on the handle with a tag that you've made. You can buy them at craft stores and embellish them with stickers. Write to: and from: on the back.

Purchase coordinating tissue paper. Put gift in bag. Pinch the middle of a piece of tissue. Place in bag. Use plenty of tissue for a full look.

Baby Gift Bags

Purchase a blue bag. Hot glue a white paper doily on the front. Glue a 2 inch ribbon tied in a bow onto that. Your ribbon can be blue or white, or something that includes both of them. Maybe a stripe or dots.

Glue baby's breath and light greenery in and around the ribbon.

Purchase large letter stickers. Put BABY along the bottom of the bag.

Put in your gift. Place plenty of coordinating tissue in the bag.

Christmas Gift Bags

Purchase a plain red bag. Hot glue beaded trim along the top about 2 inches down.

Glue leaves to cover the ribbon part. Hot glue tiny ornaments every 2 inches or so. Glue tiny red ribbons among the leaves.

Purchase large letter stickers. Stick MERRY CHRISTMAS around the bag.
