Creepy Halloween Party Ideas

halloween party

The Halloween Party is great fun. You want it to be scary, but if you have little ones invited, keep the really scary stuff in another room.

Invitations

Glue a silver skull on black cardstock. Fold in half and write info with a silver pen inside. Sprinkle skull confetti inside.

Party Costumes

The sky is the limit. Anything goes. You can do a theme if you want. Some great ones...

  • Space
  • Pirates
  • Fairytale
  • Knights and ladies
  • Cartoon characters
  • Movie stars
  • Candy
  • Greek
  • 20's
  • 60's
  • 70's
  • 80's

Another great theme is pick a letter theme. Like "M". Everyone has to wear a costume that starts with the letter "M".

  • M and M's
  • Mickey Mouse
  • Minnie Mouse
  • Mintos
  • Magazine
  • Monkeys
  • Money

You can find great stuff at flea markets and thrift stores. Online shopping at Costume Express is fast and easy. Costumes are pretty easy to sew as well. They don't have to stand the test of time.

Give prizes to the best costume.

Decorations

Your colors for a Halloween Party are going to be black, orange, and silver. Place some decorations on the porch, like jack-o-lanterns, spiderwebs, scarecrows, hanging bats, ect...

Use black tablecloths. For your centerpiece you can do several things. Pumpkins are a cheap way to fill up table space. Or lay a long piece of silver tulle in the middle of the table. Crumble it up. Place a big silver candelabra in the middle. Lay bats, skulls, and spiders all around.

Suspend bats from the ceiling with fishing wire. Put fake spider webs in corners of ceiling and doors.

Set up a mad scientist lab with fake brains(spaghetti noodles)and eyeballs(peeled grapes).

Dry ice is great for Halloween Parties. You can empty out pumpkins and put a small cup with the dry ice in it.

Cups and plates can be black, silver, or orange.

Games and Activities

Haunted Obstacle Course

Have a room or area in your yard set up with a haunted house feel. Have races through it. The person with the best time wins.

Pumpkin Toss

Place a plastic jack-o-lantern on the floor. Give the guests soft small pumpkins. Let them toss into the jack-o-lanterns for points.

Bobbing for Apples

This is a classic for a Halloween Party. But still a lot of fun.

Create a Costume

Divide into 2 teams. Give each team the same items. Newspaper, tape, tulle, feathers, roll of toilet paper, ect. See which team can make the best costume in a certain amount of time.

Food and Drinks

Food

  • Cupcakes with a fake spider on top
  • Chocolate cake with a head stone on it. Sprinkle crumbled Newman O's(organic black cookies)on it. Place gummy worms coming out of the "grave".
  • Caramel apples
  • Vampire fangs with blood(apple slices with lemon juice on them and strawberry sauce
  • Bat cookies(cookies in the shape of bats)
  • Monster meatballs
  • Brain salad(spaghetti noodles with tomatoes, green peppers, and Italian dressing)

Drinks

  • Bug juice(pink lemonade with raisins and worms floating in it)
  • Blood and guts(tomato juice with the pulp)
  • Bat juice(grape juice)

Favors

You can give little plastic jack-o-lanterns with goodies inside. Think of things besides candy. They will get plenty of that.

You can also take pictures of the guests as they arrive at your Halloween Party, print them out and put in a Halloween frame. Place in a silver gift bag with spiders hot glued on the front. Tie curly ribbon on the handle.
