Recipes For Healthy Party Food
Party food should be easy to prepare and easy to eat. But couldn't it also be relatively healthy? I've got a few ideas about healthy party food. Now I'm not talking about tofu and diet sodas.
I'm talking about yummy whole foods like fresh homemade ice cream, fresh squeezed lemonade, fresh organic fruits and veggies, creamy dips, farm fresh eggs, and organic meats and cheeses.
My life changed about 4 years ago when I came across Dr. Weston A. Price's teachings. It's worth your time to search it out at www.westonaprice.org. I have overcome some serious health problems with this way of eating.
Children consume way too much sugar. Ok, maybe a piece of chocolate cake won't kill you. But most people are eating sugar every day. I'm concerned for the generation that is coming up.
If you don't want 10 kids hyped up on sugar at your next party, glance through my ideas listed below.
You might think some of the recipes are not healthy because they contain fat. But not all fat is bad.
Some good ways to tell if something is healthy...
- Was it grown in fertile soil?
- Was it treated properly when alive?(animals)
- Did it receive alot of sunshine when it was alive?(animals)
- What did it eat when it was alive?(animals)
- Is it in it's original form?(processed food is usually not healthy)
- Was it sprayed with chemicals?
- Has it been heated?(heat destroys alot of the vitamins and enzymes in dairy and fruit products)
Of course this is not everything you need to know, but it's a start. No one is going to take care of your health like you.
I realize we're talking party food recipes here, so some of the recipes might fudge (pun intended) a bit. It's one day out of the year. You don't want to frighten your guests with cow liver.
So lighten up a bit for a party, but try to do the best you can.
My motto is... "Eat healthy 95% of the time and you'll be ok."
The party food recipes I have listed are all yummy and by no means tasteless. They are great choices for your get togethers. Whether it's for a birthday, anniversary, wedding, baby shower, bridal shower, holiday party, office party, or a retirement party, you're sure to find a scruptious recipe you can
use.
