Hollywood 6th Grade Graduation

by Janie

Question...

Hollywood 6th Grade Graduation Ideas~

We decided the invitations would look like the Hollywood walk of fame star. The colors we are using are a soft burgundy with a sparkly black.

We are renting a red carpet, up lights, hanging globe lights and sparkly stars. We have red velvet drapes that can help create an arch for the kids to walk through.

I am trying to decorate simply without it looking cheesy. What can we do inexpensively for table decor? We have to decorate 23 square tables. HELP!

Hi Janie,

Wow, it sounds as if you have this all figured out. I bet it will be a great event. You seem to have some very creative and awesome ideas.

23 tables is a lot! I have a few ideas though to keep costs down...

Balloons are always a cheap centerpiece idea. Use 3 black balloons with burgundy ribbon. Tie to a balloon weight. Set in the middle of the table. Add star confetti to the table as well.

This always looks great and costs about $2.50 per table. The latex balloons are about .45 cents at any party supply store. They come with the ribbon. A simple balloon weight is normally about $1.00. Or check out this cool Clapboard Balloon Weight.

You can cut the cost even more if you make your own balloon weights. Fill a latex balloon with about a 1/4 cup of sand. Tie in a knot to close the balloon. Tie a circle of tulle up and around the balloon weight and use a small piece of ribbon to secure.

I like to place the balloons down into a gift bag and add tissue to the top for a little extra pizazz to the tables. You could use star gift bags or just plain black or burgundy.

Another idea would be to print off pictures of movie stars and place into clear cylinder vases (look at your local dollar store). Spray paint tall twigs silver and place down into the vases. This would be very cheap and it's a very dramatic look.

For yet another idea, cut round Styrofoam balls in half. Turn flat side down. Cut out stars from cardboard. Glue the stars onto small dowel rods. Place the dowel rods at different lengths into the Styrofoam ball. Spray paint the whole centerpiece silver. You could also add pictures of movie stars to the stars after they are dry.

Here are a couple of Hollywood centerpieces that you can look at to get inspiration...

Hollywood Centerpiece
Popcorn Centerpiece
Golden Statue Centerpiece

I hope your event is a smashing hit! Good luck.
