Simple and Easy Homemade Ornaments
Nothing says Happy Holidays like homemade ornaments. Decorating your tree doesn't have to be a chore or break the bank.

on your way to a most joyful homemade Christmas in no time.

Country Homemade Ornaments
Felt Snowmen
Cut 2 pieces of felt in the shape of a 2 tiered snowman. Sew or hot glue all around the outside except for a small opening at the top. Stuff the snowman and sew or glue shut.
Embellish with old buttons, plaid ribbon, and black beads for the eyes. Tack or glue a ribbon on the top to hang on the tree.
Felt Mittens
Cut out mitten shapes with pinking shears. Hot glue string to the left one and then the right. Hang on the tree by the string. Can embellish the mittens if you desire.
Cookie Homemade Ornaments
Bake your favorite sugar cookies or gingerbread cookies. When the cookies are still warm, poke a hole on the top. Ice the cookie if you prefer. Use ribbon or string to attach it to the tree.
Pinecone Ornament
Hot glue a country ribbon to the top of a pinecone. Make a bow and hot glue that to the top as well. You can also spray the pine cones gold, silver, or with sparkles.
Cookie Cutters
Tear strips of fabric into 8 inch lengths. Thread through cookie cutters and tie in a knot. Place on tree.

Fabric Ornaments
Hot glue a loop of ribbon to the top of a Styrofoam ball. Cut a piece of country fabric with pinking shears in a circle. Draw up and around the ball. Tie a ribbon around the top to secure. Make sure your ribbon loop is hanging out so you can
hang the ornament onto the tree.
Shabby Chic or Victorian Homemade Ornaments
Doily Sachet Ornaments
Purchase or make crocheted doilies. You can get them at the Dollar Tree. Place dried flowers that you have added some scent to ( or store bought potpourri), in the middle. About an inch from the edge, run a ribbon in and out of the doily.
Pull ribbon to gather and tie in a bow. Hot glue a rose in the middle of the bow. Hang on the tree with ribbon, wire, or string.
Flower Balls
Hot glue flowers onto a Styrofoam ball. Hot glue a ribbon and a bow to the top to hang it on the tree. You can also attach the flowers with large headed pins.
Tiny Sweater Stockings
Cut tiny stocking shapes out of vintage sweaters. Sew or hot glue the edges with the right sides facing in. Leave the top open. Turn right side out. Hot glue lace, fur, rick-rack, trim, or ribbon at the top to hide the raw edge.
Tie a bow out of ribbon and hot glue on the left side. Hot glue an old earring or pin an old brooch over the bow. Attach a loop of ribbon on the inside back of the stocking with hot glue or thread. You can also
embellish with old buttons and jewelry.
Song Book Scrolls
Find old song books and tear out the pages. Roll one piece up and tie a ribbon around it. Hot glue a flower on the bow and hang from the tree with ribbon, string, or wire.
Ribbon Ornament
Cut strips of ribbon to reach from the top of a Styrofoam ball to the bottom. Hot glue on the ball. Cover the bottom with a flower. Loop a piece of ribbon and hot glue onto the top. Cover the top with a ribbon bow and flower. Embellish with
beads or sequins.
Pearl Ornament
This ornament is so easy, yet looks like you spent a lot of time doing it. Purchase pearl garlands. Starting at the top, hot glue the pearls in a circular fashion down and around a Styrofoam ball. Hot glue a ribbon loop on top. Embellish the top with flowers, ribbon, and lace.
Tea Anyone?
Purchase vintage or Shabby Chic rose tea cups. Hot glue a tiny bird's nest inside. Hot glue 3 tiny eggs on the nest. Hang with a large silky ribbon.
Frame Homemade Ornaments
Photo copy old vintage pictures. Using vintage inspired scrapbook paper and supplies, make vintage looking frames. Glue ribbon to the back to hang on the tree.
Vintage Christmas Cards
Purchase vintage looking Christmas cards. Cut out with decorative scissors in an oval. Hot glue ruffled lace to the back of one of your ovals. Hot glue another oval to the back of the first oval to make it 2 sided.
Flower Power
Hot glue small clothes pins on the backs of silk flowers. Clip on the tree.
Modern Homemade Ornaments
Painted Glass
Purchase clear glass ornaments. Purchase paint in your color choice. Pop the top off of the ornament and pour a small amount of paint into it. Swirl around to create any design you want.
Wired Up For The Holidays
Take colored wire and wind down and around a pencil. Slide off the pencil. Form a hook on top and hang on tree.
Wire Shapes
Take your colored wire and bend into Christmas shapes. Trees, stars, stockings, ect. Hang with ribbon.
Recycled Homemade Ornaments
Old Christmas Cards
Use last years Christmas cards. Cut out 3 circles the same size. Bend the circles in half. Glue back-to-back-to-back. Punch a hole in the top and hang with left over ribbon.
Paper Bag Ornaments
Cut Christmas shapes out of store brown paper bags. Color and punch a hole in the top to hang from tree with string.
Round Coke Bottles
You can buy round Coke bottles during the Holidays. If you drink Coke, then it would pay you to purchase them. They make great ornaments. When the soda is gone, poke a hole in the top of the lid.
Thread a piece of string or ribbon up the hole and back down. Tie in a knot, leaving a loop at the top. Screw the lid back on the bottle and you have instant fun. You can also put stuff in the bottle.
Metal Shapes
With metal snippers, cut shapes from soda cans. Be very careful and wear gloves. Be sure to fold all the edges under to make them safe. Punch a hole in the top to string your wire.
Scrap Babies
Make scrap babies from old fabric, lace, ribbon, flowers, buttons, and yarn. Hot glue a ribbon from the top of the babies to hang on the tree.
Old Tea Cups
Hang old tea cups or coffee mugs with ribbon to the tree. You can also embellish with ribbon and flowers.
Silverware Homemade Ornaments
Drill a hole in the top of old silverware. Hang from the tree with fishing wire.
Reborn Ornaments
Use old ornaments that are old or ugly and remake them. Use yard, fabric, paint, flowers, pearls, buttons, glitter, plastic jewels, wrapping paper, ect.

Lollipop Ornaments
Stick a dowel rod or a pencil into a small Styrofoam ball. Cover the ball with colored cellophane and tie with a ribbon. Hang from the tree with ribbon.

Cut butterfly shapes out of colored craft foam. Embellish with beads, sequins, ribbon, and glitter. Punch a hole in the top and tread a ribbon through. Tie in a bow and hang from the tree.
Construction Paper Masterpiece
Cut the construction paper into strips. Just like when you are making a construction paper garland. Staple or glue the ends together. Place one loop inside another one and secure at the top with a staple or glue. Tie a piece of yard through the top into a loop.
