Creative Invitations
Invitations are an important part of party planning. It lets your guests know all the information of your party. Where, when, what to wear, time, and a RSVP phone # or e-mail address.
You can find invites just about anywhere. Department stores, party stores, and online party suppliers. You can also download really cute ones and embellish them.
Send them out about 2 to 3 weeks in advance. It gives the guests time to plan and respond. You'll want a card that matches your party theme or color.
Using Ready Made Invites
This is the easiest choice. Just purchase a invite that goes with your theme or color scheme. Check out your local dollar stores, online party supplies, hobby stores, and department stores.
Some ideas for premade cards and the parties you can use them for...
- Flowers(Princess, Fairy, Garden, Bug, Teddybear Picnic, Vintage Tea, Bridal Shower, Housewarming, and Sweet Sixteen)
- Castles(Knights, Little Prince, and Princess)
- Star(Rockstar, Diva, and Hollywood)
- Sea Shell or Pineapple(Tropical, Mermaid, Under the Sea, Survivor, Beach, and Luau)
You get the point?
Embellishing Ready Made Cards

This is fun. If it's for a kid's party, let him/her help. Just purchase premade cards and gussy it up (as my Grandma used to say). Here's a list of the supplies you can use...
- Ribbon
- Lace
- Buttons
- Stickers
- Colored paper
- Silk flowers
- Silk leaves
- Beads
- Scrapbook supplies
- Glitter
Handmade Invitations
If you're really creative, you can make your invites completely from scratch. Purchase Scrapbook paper and go to town. Use the embellishing ideas from above.
Simply cut out the shape of your party theme. Castles for Prince and Princess, truck for Monster Truck, ect.
This Ladybug invite was so easy. I just used a small plate for my template. It's a black circle (with a bump for a head), a slightly smaller white circle, and a red circle
cut in half.
Embellish with dots and wiggly eyes. Fasten the wings with little scrapbook brads. Write your party information inside.
You can also cut out pictures from a coloring book. Glue onto cardstock paper and fold in half. Easy as pie.
Try using scrapbook scissors to create a wavy edge.
You can also take a picture of the guest of honor and glue onto the front of the card.
Invite Tags

This is really cute if you send or give an object. Just purchase the tags at a hobby store, or online. Put "You're Invited" on one side, and the party information on the back. You can use stickers or just handwrite on them.
Tie a pretty ribbon on the tag and attach to your item. Some ideas for items are...
- Teddy bear
- Teacup
- Treasure chest
- Message in a bottle
- Trucks
- Piece of party costume(like a mask)
Free Printable Invitations
You can find free printables invites online as well. You just download them and print them out.
I found this cute little candy border and added the "You're Invited" in my paint program. I printed them out on card stock, and
added my party info on the back.
I made my own homemade envelopes, and embellished them with candy stickers.
They turned out so cute. And it didn't cost me a fortune.
This would be a great invite for a Candyland Party.
The sky really is the limit. So let your imagination soar! And most of all have fun!
