Adorable Ladybug Birthday Party Ideas

The Ladybug Birthday Party is very popular and so easy to do. Feel free to use these ideas for a Bug Party as well.

You might want to add other bugs to the Ladybug Party as it can get a little much. All that black and red. Whew. It's just up to you.

Ladybug Birthday Party Invitations

ladybug invitations Of course you can purchase the whole Ladybug Birthday Party set of supplies. It comes with invites. I'll give you all the info you need on that below.

If you want to make your own, I've got 4 ideas for you.

The first idea is the most popular. Cut out a round black piece of cardstock(make sure you leave a little bump for the head). I used a small saucer for my template.

Cut out a white piece of cardstock with scrapbook scissors a little bit smaller than the black one.

Glue the white piece on the black piece. Cut out a red circle with scrapbook scissors. Cut it in half and attach with brads. They slide back and forth like ladybug wings.

Make dots with a black marker on the wings. Make eyes with white paper and black marker. Add your party information inside. Bee creative with bug phrases. Like buzz on over to the flower garden(your house).

The next option is a flower invitation that has small ladybugs on it. Add your info on the petals.

Or how about a leaf? Just draw your little ladybugs on the front and the party info on the back.

The last idea for a Ladybug invitation is to dress your little one in her favorite Ladybug outfit and take a picture.

Print it out and paste onto red and white gingham cardstock. Using red ribbon, embellish in any way you desire.

Here's full instructions on how to make a homemade envelope for your homemade invitations.

Ladybug Birthday Party Costumes

There are some really cute Ladybug outfits out there. You could also purchase an adorable Ladybug costume for the guest of honor.

Lady Bug Tutu (Size XS)

For all the other guests you can provide wings and antennae. Just use headbands and pipe cleaners with pom-poms glued on the ends.

Or make homemade party hats and embellish with black dots.

Entrance Decor

Start your decor with a Lady Bug Banner.

Line the sidewalk with garden pinwheels. Cut out huge flowers from thick poster board. Glue onto a garden stake, add ladybug details. Stick in ground.

Tie ladybug balloons on the mailbox.

Ladybug Birthday Party Decorations

You can certainly order all the supplies in one package, or just order the few things that you need for this Ladybug Birthday Party and fill in with things you already have.

The colors for this party are red and black. I like to punch it up a notch and use other colors in small doses. Garden colors like green, yellow, and purple.

I'll give you some ideas for centerpieces. There is no way you could use them all, so just pick and choose for your own special party scheme.

I like green tablecloths for this party. It looks like grass. We are going to create a garden atmosphere.

Make edible flower arrangements. Bake cookie flowers on sticks. Ice them in pretty colors and place in a terracotta pot that has florist foam inside. Glue moss or fake grass on the top to hide foam.

You could also bake ladybugs, bees, spiders, ect.

Balloon centerpieces are easy and make a visual pop. Purchase one mylar ladybug or flower balloon. Group with 3 red and 3 black latex balloons. Or just have red balloons that you have added black dots to. Tie to a balloon weight.

Make your own with a balloon and 1/4 cup of sand. Just fill balloon and tie in a knot. Place the balloons in a red gift bag. Make a huge ribbon bow to go on bag.

Cut Styrofoam balls in half and paint red with black dots. Use pipe cleaners for the antennae. Stick poster putty on the back and place on walls, ceilings, and floors.

Decorate the chandelier with flower garlands. Hot glue ladybugs and butterflies on leaves. Hang butterflies from the ceiling with fishing wire.

Borrow fake and real plants from family and friends. Group in party area for a full garden effect. Have fountains going. Place twinkle lights wherever you want some sparkle.

You could also crumple green tulle in the middle of the table and layer potted plants and candles in and amongst it.

You cannot go over board with the garden theme stuff. Think outside the box. It does not have to be "Ladybug party supplies" to be used at a Ladybug Birthday Party.

Scour the lawn and garden section at your local department store and let your imagination soar. Think how it would feel to be in a garden, and then recreate that.

That is a great decorator secret. Your party is going to be the greatest!

Ladybug Birthday Party Games and Activities

As the little bugs arrive, have a place set up for them to color. This lets everyone get there. Hand out the party costumes.

Making Ladybug Bracelets

Cut out circles from flexible water bottles. Have the girls decorate the bracelets with buttons, stickers, foam cutouts, ect.

Find the Ladybugs

Before the party, hide plastic or Styrofoam ladybugs all around the house or yard. Let the guests find all the ladybugs and place them in bug boxes. Give out prizes.

Pin the Ladybug on the Leaf

Play as you would Pin the Tail on the Donkey. Cut a large leaf out of a green poster board. Cut out ladybugs from red construction paper. Detail them with a black marker. Place poster putty on the back. You could also use ladybug stickers to make it easier.

Pinata - Ladybug

If you're creative, you can make one. Blow up a balloon. Tear strips of newspaper and glue on balloon. When it's dry, cut a hole in the top. Pop balloon, paint and embellish your pinata to look like a ladybug. Fill with candy or small toys.

Musical Chairs Ladybug Style

Lay out leaves all over the room. Play just like you would musical chairs, but have the players "fly" around the room leaf to leaf. Give prizes to the one that is out. It helps to ease the blow.

Ladybug Reading Time

Pick your favorite Ladybug book and have a story time. This could be at the end when you're waiting for parents to pick up the kids.

Ladybug Birthday Cakes
