Mermaid Party Ideas
Give your daughter the Little Mermaid Party of her dreams with these ideas.
Invitations
Send out tiny treasure chests with this message inside...
(Your daughter's name) is treasure hunting down by the sea,She'd like you to join her at her private reef,(your address)So swim right on over,(time of party) and do not delay, We'll have such great fun as we frolic all day.
Party Costumes
Purchase or make mermaid costumes. Offer one for each guests. Make hair halos with greenery. Measure and wire together. Cover wire with green florist tape. Hot glue tiny sea shells on. Have purple and aqua ribbon flowing through it and streaming down the back.
Have a table set up with coloring pages for the girls. This keeps them busy until all the guests arrive.
Entrance Decor
Tie 3 or 5 balloons on the mailbox.
Line the sidewalk with cut outs of fish and coral. Just cut out of thick poster board and hot glue a garden stake on the back.
Purchase greenery that looks like seaweed. Hang around front door. Hot glue sea shells randomly.
Place bigger seashells on steps and beside front door.
Have a bubble machine going.
Decorations
Mermaid party colors are purple and aqua.
Drape shiny aqua material in waves on ceiling. Hang fish in different lengths from fishing line. Float aqua, light blue and dark blue balloons on the ceiling. Have a lot on the floor as well.
Tie fishing line on clear balloons and have them floating at different heights around the room to look like bubbles. Make a weight out of a balloon and 1/4 cup of sand. Just fill the balloon with sand and tie a knot.
Wind seaweed greenery down the chandelier. Hot glue sea shells on it. Hang purple and aqua ribbon from it.
Aqua tablecloth with fish net over that. For your centerpiece, place a large purple sand bucket on it's side. Pour sand in it and let it spill out. Have a shovel, shells, coral, pearls, and gold coins in sand.
You can purchase mermaid plates and cups or use aqua or purple.
Games
Pass the Treasure Chest
Make a treasure chest out of a styrofoam cooler. Spray paint it brown. Fill with goodies from any dollar store.
Play mermaid music. When the music stops, the girl that has the chest gets a prize. Keep playing until all prizes are gone.
This is very popular. Who doesn't like to get something for free!
Treasure Hunt
Fill a small swimming pool with sand. Hide treasures in it before party. Give each girl a shovel and pail. Let them dig for goodies.
Little Mermaid Stomp
Tie a balloon on each girls leg. Have them try and pop each others balloons by stomping on them. The winner is the last girl with a balloon.
Food and Drinks
CakeFrost a 2 layer cake blue. Crumble vanilla wafers to look like sand. Sit a mermaid on the "sand" with her fin in the water. Place shells randomly.
Or have cupcakes with a shell on top.

Favors
Tie aqua and purple ribbons onto the handle of a sand bucket. Fill with mermaid stickers, a book, pearl necklace, shells, aqua and purple hair accessories, and a thank you note.
