Mother and Daughter Luncheon Table Decor

Mother and Daughter Luncheon Table Decor~

Question...

Need an idea for a table setting...I am attending a Mother/Daughter Luncheon. I am the table captain and am responsible for decorating my table (round banquet table that seats 10). I need a creative idea that no one else will think of. The person with the most creative and neat setting wins a prize.

Answer...

Oh how fun! I hope you win. I would do something about Mothers and Daughters. Pull on the emotional strings of the judges:) I can give you a few pointers, but you are the one that will have to bring it all together.

Before you start any decorating, you must decide on a theme or a color scheme. This makes it all pull together nicely. And is a huge decorator's secret.

Once you have a theme or a color scheme, you can start your brainstorming. Since this is about Mothers and Daughters, that should be incorporated into your theme.

One idea is to have a Mother/Daughter tree. Your table's theme will be a garden theme and the centerpiece will be a tree with tiny framed pictures of Mothers and Daughters hanging from the branches. You can use any kind of small tree. It can have leaves or not. You'll want the tree to be about 3 or 4 feet tall. You can put it in a put and add plaster into the pot. This will anchor the tree. Use a fake tree or a real one, either one.

The first thing you need to do is lay down moss in the middle of the table. Next set your tree in the middle of the moss. Layer in the moss, birds nest, small watering cans, garden statues, small tea lights, ect. What you would see in a garden, add in. Now you need to decorate the tree.

Copy pictures of Mothers and Daughter from the internet. Or use copies of Mothers and Daughters that will be attending the luncheon. Place in small frames and attach to the tree with pretty ribbon. You can also add other garden ornaments to the tree. Remember to stay with your color scheme. This would also be beautiful done in a vintage style with black and white photos. Print out a saying in pretty font on antique looking paper. Something about Mothers and Daughters. Put in a frame and nestle into the moss at the base of your tree.

This is just one idea. Maybe it will get you to thinking and you can come up with more ideas. Good luck!
