Creative Party Hats
Party hats are so much fun. You can set them on the party table as part of the decorations. There's some great choices in party hats these days, but sometimes you just can't find what you're looking for.
Don't worry. I'll show you how to make your own. It's really quite easy. You can get your supplies at department stores, garage sales, thrift stores, hobby stores, and online. This is not an all inclusive list. You can take this as far as you want to.
You can also just purchase colored hats and embellish them to match your theme.

Take a 12 x 12 piece of paper. About 2 inches from the bottom, cut diagonally up to the top. Do the same on the other side. On the bottom, cut in a curved line from side to side. You'll end up with a triangle that has a rounded bottom.
You can also use a 12 x 18 piece of paper. It actually works better.
Curl the paper into a cone. You have to kind of work it a bit. Staple the bottom. Tape the rest.
Embellish the hats in any fashion you want. If you want a band at the bottom, cut in a curve, not a straight line. Use wavy scissors for a cool effect.
Glue a pom-pom or a flower on the peak. You can also have ribbon streaming out. Just cut your desired lengths of ribbon. Tie it together with another piece of ribbon.
Stick the ribbon that you tied it off with in the hole at the top of the hat. Secure inside with glue or tape.
Punch a hole on each side of the hat. Tie on ribbon or elastic.

This could also be a craft for your guests to do. Set up a table with all the goodies.
Do it early in the party, so the hats can dry and be ready to wear when the guest of honor blows out his candles.
