Shabby Chic Wedding Dessert Bar

Shabby Chic Wedding Dessert Bar Ideas~

Question...

Hey my name is Meg, we met over at Rob and Leslie's for Brandon's party, I am Diana's sister.

I am maid of honor for one of my friends wedding in January, and instead of doing full meals to save on money she is doing a dessert buffet, we are getting alot of the items at Sam's Club or Costco, we will be getting mini eclairs, cheesecake bites, cream puffs, cookies, cupcakes, and various candies. I was wondering if you have any ideas on how we can display this? The theme is shabby chic, the wedding is being held in an old barn that was made into a building, her colors are peony, raspberry, cafe au laite, and choc brown. She needs help, and from far away this is the most I can help with, so I remembered you were a party planner :)

Thank you,

Meg VandeWeg

Answer...

Hi Meg,

How awesome that you are trying to help your friend! I love Shabby Chic, so I am full of ideas on this one!

The Shabby Chic style is just like it's name, some things a bit shabby, and some things fancy. You'll want to bring in plenty of old things like metal buckets, baskets, wire planters, ect. And then you'll want to bring in pretty shiny things like silver platters, cake plates with sparkle, and glass vases and jars.

Start with a gorgeous white tablecloth. Elevate some of your platters and baskets at different heights to give the table interest. You can use cake plates to do this. They can be found at thrift stores very inexpensively. You can also make fancy tiered plates with candle holders and pretty plates. Use strong glue for this project.

Paper lace doilies look awesome under fancy desserts. Once you have the desserts set up, then add flowers onto the table to fill in. Ribbon can be tied on to basket handles to add some more fancy details.

Wire cupcake stands are a great way to display cupcakes. It makes them look so fancy.

I hope it turns out beautiful! If you need any more help, just use the contact form on this site and I'll be glad to help you all I can.
