Vintage Tea Party Ideas For A Fabulous Kids Tea Birthday Party!

The Vintage Tea Party is one of my favorites. And the kids tea birthday party theme is so popular amongst all little girls.

Actually, girls of all ages enjoy sipping tea from rose china tea cups and eating tiny tea sandwiches and scones with butter.

This vintage tea party can also be combined with the Fancy Nancy Party, Fairy Party, or Princess Party. Just about any girls birthday party can also be a tea party. So mix and match to find the perfect party theme for your little girl.

Kids Tea Birthday Party Invitations

Send out teapots with a fancy tag tied to the handle. It can say something like this...

"(Your child's name)is having her very own tea,
She'd like you to join her if you would please,
You'll have such a time with pinky held high,
It will be so much fun you'll leave satisfied."

Or make a homemade vintage tea party invitation. Use pink card stock and pink, purple, yellow, and white scrapbook paper for the tea pot.

Cut out a tea pot and glue to the pink card stock. Embellish with markers. Print, write, or use sticker to day..."You're Invited To A Tea Party" on the outside.

You can age the edges to look more vintage, or leave it for a clean crisp look.

Write all of your vintage tea party info inside. Embellish your homemade envelope with tea cup and tea pot stickers.

Kids Tea Birthday Party Costumes

Have a trunk full of vintage dresses, hats, scarves, and gloves. You can find all these things at flea markets or thrift stores. Or ask friends to help you out with some vintage tea party costumes.

Embellish old high heels with glitter, rhinestones, pearls, or anything else you can come up with. This can also be an activity.

When the girls arrive, let them pick out a full outfit and then send them to a makeup station. Do their hair, makeup, fingernails, ect. Place a full length mirror where the girls can admire themselves from head to toe.

Set up a table with vintage tea party coloring pages. This keeps them busy until all girls arrive and have received their beauty treatment.

You can also request that the girls come in their favorite tea party outfit and go straight into the vintage tea party fun.

Kids Tea Birthday Party Decorations And Centerpieces

Tie balloons on the mailbox. This lets everyone know where the party is.

Cut out large teapots and teacups from thick poster boards. Look at coloring books for inspiration. Hot glue a garden stake on the back and place in yard.

Hang rose garlands around door. Intertwine pearl garlands and twinkle lights in them. You can also place a garden arch over the door entrance and embellish with flower garland, tulle, twinkle lights, and pearl garland. Make big bows out of the tulle and tie onto the arch.

Your colors will be the same as your china. If it's pink and green, then go with that. That's my favorite combo for a Vintage Tea Party.

Start with a tablecloth that matches your color scheme. Place a lace tablecloth over that. Some great centerpiece ideas are...Fresh roses in a vase, teapots, teacups, gold or crystal candle holders with candles, rose petals, pearls, antique handbags, antique gloves, and feather boas. Display everything in a pleasing manner. You can elevate things with old books to really give that vintage tea party feel.

Wind rose garlands and pearl garlands down and around the chandelier. Hang a tulle canopy from the ceiling. You just start at the middle and swag tulle to all the corners. You can lay rose petals or twinkle lights in the tulle for extra drama.

You can also make flower balls. Purchase 3 Styrofoam balls about the size of a basketball. Hot glue flowers all around them. Top it off with a pretty ribbon bow. Hang them from the ceiling in staggering lengths.

If party is outside, you can place the table under a tree and make your own chandelier. Take all the parts out of an old chandelier. Spray paint it cream and sand it a bit to make it look old. Place candles where the bulbs used to be.

Drape a piece of tulle, satin material, or a sheet over the chairs. Tie tulle around the chair. Make a big bow in back. Hot glue roses and ribbons on to it.

For your vintage tea party ware, I would use real tea cups if the girls are old enough and paper tea party cups if they are younger. You can find tea cups and saucers at thrift stores, flea markets, garage sales, and friends and family. They do not have to be matchy matchy. Just make sure they are a pleasing combination. You wouldn't want red and black and pink and green. Keep the colors matching whatever color scheme you have chosen.

If you want to do a stunning vintage tea party table, but feel the girls are too little, create a main table and then have smaller tables for the little girls to sit at. You can keep the decorations for the little tables to a minimum without sacrificing any decor for the main table.

Kids Tea Birthday Party Games and Activities

Have the girls sit it a circle. Play teatime music. When the music stops, the girl holding the teapot gets a prize from the antique hat box in the middle.

• Teapot Charades

Place slips of paper in a teapot that have a word on them. Let the girls pick one and then act it out. Keep it simple and silly. If the girls can't read, then have pictures of things.

Let the girl strut their stuff. Give prizes for the best outfit, the craziest, the coolest, ect.

Kids Tea Birthday Party Cake Ideas

Bake a sheet cake and carve out a tea pot. Frost with butter cream frosting (recipe below). You can also cover it in fondant. It's really not that hard to work with. Actually it's quite fun.

Here's an idea for a gorgeous tea party cake. Bake any flavor of cake. Frost with white frosting. Dip Roses in egg white and then in sugar. Layer on top of cake with the leaves as well. This is so elegant and beautiful.

Or instead of cake, have tiny pink cupcakes with a rose on top. Serve on a 3 tiered cake plate or a fancy cupcake holder with rose petals scattered around them.

Butter Cream Frosting Recipe

1 pound of powdered sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/3 cup butter

Beat with an electric mixer until smooth.

Kids Tea Birthday Party Food and Drinks

• Raspberry tarts
• Scones
• Clotted cream
• Jam
• Honey butter
• Tea sandwiches (see below for recipes)
• Strawberry jam and cream cheese sandwiches
• Fruit kabobs
• Strawberries dipped in chocolate
• No vintage tea party would be complete without tea. Serve hot or iced.
• Pink Lemonade. Make fresh squeezed lemonade and put in blender with a few strawberries. Cut slices in the bottoms of strawberries. Place on the edge of the cups.

And don't forget the lemon, cream, sugar cubes, and honey to put in the tea.

Vintage Tea Party Menu Recipes

Cut the crust off of white bread and fill with desired filling. Cut into triangles and display on pretty china.

1/2 c.finely chopped cooked chicken
3 to 4 green onions,sliced
1 stalk of celery sliced very fine
2 boiled eggs, chopped
1/3 c. mayonnaise
2 tbsp. sweet relish
2 tsp prepared mustard

Combine and chill for at least 1 hour. Spread on bread.

Tuna Salad

Same as above except substitute one 6 1/2 oz can of tuna an omit mustard.

Egg Salad

4 boiled eggs, chopped
3 tbsp mayo
1 tbsp prepared mustard
salt
pepper
cayenne pepper

Combine ingredients. Spread on bread.

Strawberry and Cream Cheese

Put strawberry jam(with no sugar)and organic cream cheese on bread. Cut out in desired shape.

Cucumber

I large cucumber peeled and sliced thin
3/4 cup butter
2 tsp. minced garlic
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 tbsp olive oil
pepper to taste

Cut up cucumber. Sprinkle with Celtic sea salt. Let drain in colander for 1 hour. Spread butter and garlic on bread. Coat cucumber slices with lemon juice and olive oil. Pepper to taste. Place on bread.

Vintage Tea Party Favors

Purchase vintage teacups. Put a little paper grass in the cup. Fill with tea stickers, lip gloss, tea bag, honey sticks, and a pearl necklace.

Wrap tulle up around it. Tie with pretty ribbon. Stick a brooch in the middle of ribbon.
